A very interesting program this week.
Death.
Akhila Murphy was our guest and walked us through the different ways of dealing with, and preparing for, the ultimate “fact” of life. Somber but enlightening at the same time.
Next week, the Grand PooBah comes to town. Doug, longtime PV rotary member and now our District Governor, comes for the annual visit, first to meet with the Board of Directors, then bring us all up to speed on District 5190 during the regular meeting. Board members, be ready to report on your responsibilities beginning at 10:45. Since we have only two committee chairs, should be a short meeting. Fortunately, Doug is very familiar with our club and it’s “unique attributes.”
On the horizon: The Foundation Dinner, November 30, at the Foothill Event Center (formerly Weaver’s Chevrolet) on Idaho-Maryland Road in GV. It kicks off at 5:30 p.m. $50 a pop for dinner. No host bar. Keynote Speaker is: Brenda Cressey, The Rotary Foundation Trustee 2017-2021. It would be nice if many of us show up to support our guy, enjoy the meal, and support the Foundation, too. A sign-up sheet will be passed around next week, Deadline for submitting our list is the next day!
There seems to be some debate about the best time to pass out tree seedlings—the program closest to the heart of our International Rotary President who wants a tree planted for every Rotarian in the world. Local club presidents have come up with a plan to pass out free, to anyone who wants then, 400 evergreen seedings, donated by CalFire Nursery and Sierra Pacific Industries, on one event day, yet to be determined. Stay tuned on this.
