Dear Rotarians:

The latest on Dick Landis is that he is coming home soon under hospice care. Please, no visitations at this time. Jeanne will let us know when this is possible. Keep Dick in your prayers.

Barbara Ross has 22 students committed to compete in the five Club speech contests in our area. Our club's high school speech contest will take place on March 8th. Great job, Barbara. We are amazed at how you get all that you do done.

The board approved a donation of $250 to the Grass Valley Club's Container Project of equipment and supplies going to Dr. Scott Kellerman's hospital in Uganda. This amount was in our budget to support this great Rotary-sponsored project.

Sorry to keep pressing the issue, but please consider attending the District Conference May 12-15 this year. It is a great way to celebrate the end of our year. Register on the district website at www.rotarydistrict5190.org.

The board unanimously approved supporting the Williams Ranch School Science Night on March 10th from 5-6:30PM. The school had asked for $250 which was not in our budget, so passing the hat was our only option, which the board approved. We collected $191 last week and will pass the hat this week as well. Mike Dobbins has graciously offered to make up the balance if needed. Thank you to all who participated for your generous contributions. Volunteers will be needed that evening, with no scientific background necessary.

Last week, Stephanie Ortiz, Executive Dean of Sierra College, Nevada County Campus gave an enlightening program on the college and its available programs for all ages.

Our program for this week will be a craft talk by our own Torie England. We will also be honoring a student of the month from Pleasant Valley School.
