Our special Monday lunch with the Rotary Clubs of Area 4 was wonderful – the meal was delicious, table conversations were lively, and the speaker was fantastic! Steven Solomon spoke of his experiences that Rotary has given him. From his Scout troop funded by Rotary to his Interact membership in high school and then his Ambassadorial Scholar program in South Africa, Steven has experienced the world due to The Rotary Foundation donations.  He has had the opportunity to meet and be influenced by folks such as Jane Goodall and Archbishop Desmond Tutu giving him an education greater than many of us can ever imagine. He blames all his adventures and gained knowledge on Rotarians and The Rotary Foundation. You missed an inspirational speaker who helped us understand the ripple effect of giving our Rotary Foundation donation – I feel proud to know what our donations have done for this young man.

This month has a great deal of action happening – here are some things to get on your calendar:

  • Saturday, April 1 (yes, April Fool’s Day) is the Club Leadership Assembly in Reno – open to club leadership and all members who what to be in the know with all things Rotary – handouts at the 3/14 meeting. Talk to Karen, Dave or Mike about the exciting day.

We will be conducting a See's Candy Sale. This will be one of our yearly fundraisers.  Next year we hope to use the Lyon’s Club trailer to sell in the parking lot of Holiday Foods but this year we need to do a pre-sale type sale. All members will be needed to sell a handful of the sweet treats. More information coming.
