Wow, there are some wonderful high school speakers out there. This past Tuesday was the Area 4 Speech Contest; five young people from Nevada Union and Ghidotti Early College High Schools participated. Aubrianna Johnson earned first place and will be competing at the District Speech Contest in Reno on Saturday, May 20th. Our Club winner, Paolina Rose, received a tie for fourth place. Since she is a sophomore, she is able to compete through her senior year – I sure hope she does, she has a great speaking style! Our Club did a great job of supporting the Speech Contest with timers and tellers; we had eleven members and one guest in attendance, great job!

Sunday is the Daffodil Run at Western Gateway Park – if you signed up to work please be there at 7am, find Barbara for your assignment and be sure to get a Rotary vest to wear. Remember it will be a cold and damp morning – wear a jacket, the vests will fit over the jacket!
Tuesday, April 11, we have our normally scheduled board meeting at 11am at Players. Club members are always invited to join the meeting. Our Club meeting will at 12:15.
Congratulations to Sheila! She has earned bragging rights for selling the most candy during our Easter sale. Thank you also to the following club members for selling: Debbi, Gene, Dan, Bob, Dave, Rick, Peter, Darleen, Phil, Barbara, Karen, Doug, Pat, Nicole, Mike H. and Mark. Remember if you were unable to sell candy you are expected to make a donation to the Penn Valley Rotary Foundation to support our work in the community. Thanks to Mike D. for his donation! Our next Social will take place on Tuesday, April 18th – there will not be a lunch meeting! We will be gathering at the 19th Hole at the Oaks at LWW at 5:30 – 6:30/7pm for no-host bar and snacks.
