From co-president Karen McDonald
It was great to see so many after our holiday break. By the volume within the room, everyone had a good time catching up with each other.
Nancy Peirce from the Chair of the Western Gateway Park Board presented Bob Kline with a certificate for his good work with the park and the bike project.
Dave Walker receives recognition from Western Gateway Park as well.
Dennis Geare, Area 4 Assistant Governor, presented Barbara Ross with the second scholarship check for Travis, our Area 4 scholarship recipient. Travis’ scholarship is now worth $4,500.
Our bell ringing for the Salvation Army brought in $350.
Our WOW Points from Holiday Market for our food baskets and testing snacks now total 1860.
Our food baskets this year went to 33 families, totaling $2,850 dollars in food from Holiday Market and Grocery Outlet. These baskets had a turkey with trimmings and food for lunches since many of the students don’t have access to lunches when school is not in session. Thank you to Debbi Corbett, Anna Dillavou and Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon for their leadership.
Barbara Ross announced that our Music Contest would be either Jan 31 or Feb 7. Jeanne Puleo will be looking for members to judge and score the contest.
Foundation Chair Debbi Corbett gave recognition to Mike Heauser and Rick Nolle for their donation to The Rotary Foundation. They are each Paul Harris plus three. Congratulations!
Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon spoke on the Chamber of Commerce and its work within the community, highlighting the need for both the Chamber and Rotary to continue to work together to support the needs of our community.
You won’t want to mix our next week’s meeting. We will have a student from Pleasant Valley School receiving our club’s Student Award of Excellence and Michael LaMarca, VP of Sierra Cinemas speaking on the coordination of entertainment within our area. Plus our scholarship recipient, Travis Perry, will be visiting us.
There will be a board meeting at 11:00 till noon at Players. All are welcome to join us.
