Dear Fellow Rotarian,
The end of the Rotary year is quickly approaching!

I’d like to ask you to make it a priority to support The Rotary Foundation before June 30, 2015, if you
haven’t done so already and if you have, thank you and please consider giving again this Rotary year.
Each and every Rotarian around the world is encouraged to make a gift each year to the Foundation’s
Annual Fund. When you do so, you’re doing your part to fulfill the Foundation’s mission to advance
World Understanding, Goodwill and Peace through the improvement of health, the support of
education, and the alleviation of poverty.

Each year, The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund empowers you and your fellow Rotarians to implement
over 1,400 programs and projects at home and abroad. To continue that good work, The Rotary
Foundation’s Annual Fund goal is a record-breaking $123 million. To date, we’ve raised $81 million. Our
District’s goal is $396,525.00 and we have raised $328,032.11. We’re on track to meet the goals, but we
need your help to get there.

Please make your gift today and thank you for your continued support.

Yours in Rotary,
Randy Van Tassell

As the world awaits the birth of the 2nd Royal baby, Penn Valley Rotary Club was honored with our own Sir George (Dr. Broder) as he returned from Palm Springs in time for us to celebrate his birthday!  Glad to have you back, Sir George.

Bob Kline and Greg Marshall volunteered to shop for and deliver the snacks for the next two weeks for Ready Springs.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

We enjoyed a very interesting presentation by Ed Sanchez on Junior Achievement.  Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon, also our guest, introduced him and shared that our own Penn Valley Schools are leaps and bounds ahead of Nevada County as they have already been using the Junior Achievement programs.  The program really looks like one to consider sponsoring.

It was my privilege to present a check for $500 to Dan Halloran on behalf of Music in the Mountains.  What should have been a slam dunk photo op actually took several minutes as we awaited one person (whom shall remain nameless) determine he didn’t know how to use a cell phone camera, and another admit he couldn’t get the cell phone far enough away from his face to focus the picture.  Alas, Jeanne Puleo came to our rescue and captured Dan and I laughing!  Rotary is FUN or funny!!!

Saturday, Bob Kline and I helped Grass Valley Rotary Club’s Rotary-at-Work-Day at the Habitat-for-Humanity build on Joyce Street.  The clouds parted just as we arrive and we had a clear day to work.  Bob pulled weeds and more and I helped Blake Smith, Steve Sarantopoulos and Frank Sobrero clean out homeless camps along the freeway and behind the homes.  We hauled out two truckloads of garbage.  YUCK!  There is something to say about a hard day’s work, right Bob Kline?  You are a “good tired” and “you pay for it” the next day.

This week was Share-our-Success Reporting for our Club.  I managed to get it in the mail Tuesday and finished updating everything on the Rotary Showcase website Friday.  Whew!  I am so glad to have it complete.  Folks, we had a busy year.  We have more fun yet ahead and I look forward to seeing all of you at Rotary, Tuesday.
