11 AM-Board Meeting
12 PM-Jerry Hall
Bwindi Nursing School Project

Penn Valley Rotary is like a close knit family and it was really great to see the room abuzz with excitement as we gathered after a long break over the holiday.  Doug McDonald shared the exciting news of his daughter and son-in-law’s Christmas morning gift to all as his daughter opened the first Christmas present – an envelope disclosing the sex of their soon-to-be first born child.  IT’S A GIRL!!!  Luis Vazquez shared that for 18 generations in his family the first born child has been a boy which has been name Luis!  Now that is a long lived tradition to be proud of and probably not to be matched.  By the way he and his beautiful wife are expecting their first SON on January 28 (or sooner).

Michelle, we are glad to have you back and I am sorry I forgot to ask you about your travels to Australia and New Zealand. I am sure it was quite eventful and yet relaxing.  And while apologies are in order, forgive me for not thanking Debbi Corbett, Angela Haick, and Dr. Tutak’s Curt for helping pack the Christmas Holiday Food Baskets at Ready Springs.  (I am sure I forgot someone else).  It was wonderful to see Mike Mastrodonato (Chamber President) and Gene Gilligan (Chamber Secretary) along with Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon and Rosie Mariani there helping as well.  Barry Svendsen dropped by for a few minutes as well.  THANKS TO YOU ALL!

We enjoyed a refresher course on the “state of the stock market” and all that is investments from our own Barry Gray.  Thank you for your insight into silver and oil and your recommended investment newspaper resource.  We just want to learn how to sell before it drops to $10 OVER what we bought it for not $10 BELOW what we bought it for.

We have sponsored “Shelter Box” #23681 for which we received a gracious thank you.  You may track it, if you like, by going to www.shelterboxusa.org.  If the notification reads “to be deployed,” this simply means our box is being packed and strategically positioned before it is delivered to those in need of our aid.

The Golden Empire Council of the Boy Scouts sent us a lovely thank you for our donation sharing that Boy Scouts is and always will be the program that stands strong in promoting the family values that teaches young men the virtues of honesty and trustworthiness.  It also teaches self-respect and respect for others, along with the leadership skills needed for all future generations; in fact “Scouting” changes lives.  I would say that Penn Valley Rotary is making a difference with Shelter Box and Scouting and helping to change lives.  THANKS PENN VALLEY ROTARY!!!

Please keep Dave Walker’s family in your thoughts and prayers as Donna is not feeling well again.

Jerry Hall will share about the Nursing Program in Uganda this coming Tuesday.  There will be several other surprises on Tuesday as well, so don’t miss it.
