The Area 4 Rotary Foundation Dinner will be held Thursday, Nov. 19th at the Event Center in Grass Valley. The sign-up sheet is growing. I appreciate that. Karen McDonald has offered to tend bar that evening with Rick and Susie Nolle and Bob Kline. We have about 100 waters left over from the baseball game that we will attempt to sell at $1.00 each.
Polio Plus Day in our area has been set for Saturday, November 7. Each of 5 clubs in the area will be on a street corner to accept donations to end polio. We will be at Holiday Market for two 3-hour shifts. Jan and I will take the first shift from 9-Noon and Barbara Ross and Dave Walker will take the second shift from Noon-3. There will be a no-host celebration at 5pm at 151 Union Square in Grass Valley for all clubs to share their success that day. Everyone is welcome.
Last week's meeting was dedicated to our immediate fundraiser which will be a BBQ at Western Gateway Park at the covered pavilion on the left as you enter the park on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 11am to 3+pm. There will be live music performed by Pre-Existing Conditions, horseshoes, good food and family fun. I will be cooking chicken donated by Jan and myself. Mike Dobbins has offered to pay for our music and Dan Halloran will pay for charcoal and chicken sausage which I will cook as an appetizer. All members and GUESTS will be bringing salads, breads and desserts as well as their own beverage. Cost will be $25.00 per head and $10.00 for children. If unable to attend, we are asking for a $50.00 donation. With the loss of the Draft Horse Classic and the Fall Festival, this should generate some money for our club’s activities and service projects. Please do your best to be there. Should be a fun time for all. Pray that it does not rain that day.
Our program for Tuesday’s meeting will be Barbara Juneau on the history of our local radio station KNCO.
Have a great weekend, see you Tuesday.
