Carolyn Feuille of the Nevada City Rotary Club is heading up an international program that RI sponsors with the U.S. Congress, called Open World.  Hosts for the homestay part of the program for the delegates coming from Kazakhstan are needed.  If you and your spouse, or another Rotarian member you know would be interested in being hosts for a full or partial week, we’d love to have you participate.  Having a cross-cultural experience in your own home is really fun and a key part of the success of Open World, as thousands of American hosts can attest.

The program has activities every day requiring transportation to our meeting point, Paulette’s Kitchen in the Brunswick area.  All hosts must bring their guest there each morning by 8:30 am. and on most days, pick them up at the end of the day’s activities, between 5-6 pm. The dates are September 25 - October 3. If you are interested, contact Carolyn at cfeuille@espritgloballearning.com.

This being membership and club development month, if you have a potential member, see Dave Walker to work you through the process. Speaking of new members, Karen McDonald was inducted this week. Very excited about her addition to our Rotary family. She will prove to be a great asset to our membership.

Weekly programs have been recruited by myself and Eric Trygg, Eric not even being a member of our club. Thank you Eric for all your efforts. If any member has a possible program, we could use your help.

By our next meeting, the Rivercats experience will be behind us for this year. Good to have all area 4 clubs involved. I will report on Tuesday.

Barbara Ross gave a very positive report on the Destruction Derby , with the tribute to our fireman being the highlight. Barbara also reported on a great evening with Ravi at the Atlantis at Reno.

Debbi Corbett reported on the Fall Festival with vendor applications coming thru the mail. The event will take place on October 3rd at Western Gateway Park. A sign-up sheet will be circulated soon. Everyone please pitch in to make this a successful fundraiser.

Dave Walker was presented with a card from our club in memory of his wonderful wife Donna with the donation of a brick in her name at Hospice of the Foothills.

Thanks to our speaker, Chris Flores, new County Ag Commissioner. She has held this important position for 7 months, commuting from Eldorado County while her children are finishing school. She has many responsibilities  with a very small staff. How she does it is beyond me. It was a very informative talk.

Thank you Mike Heauser for becoming a bell ringer this week.

See you all Tuesday!
