Happy Veteran’s Day to all those who served and have given us our freedom. Pat Ward and Dick Panzica spoke of the 1973 homecoming of our prisoners released from Vietnam. Very heart-warming story with a very happy ending.

Looking forward to our fundraising BBQ this Saturday, Nov. 14 from 11:00am through mid-afternoon at Western Gateway Park. Please pay Phil, our treasurer, when convenient . He should be at the BBQ.

Bob Kline was awarded Rotarian of the Month for October for his efforts in applying and receiving funds for our grant to support the Western Gateway Park bike park. Thank you, Bob, for your hard work.

Doug McDonald is looking for a volunteer to assist in a possible distinguished citizens dinner in March or April. If this interests you, please contact Doug. With his upcoming responsibilities as District Governor, this is something he cannot do on his own.

Dave Walker and Karen McDonald have been elected by the board to become co-presidents for 2016-2017. They will share this responsibility and Dave will attend PETS (President-Elect Training Seminar). Thank you both for stepping up.

Barbara Ross is asking for volunteers to assist with Cowboy Christmas in the Penn Valley Shopping Center. Anyone interested in helping on Saturday, Nov. 28, please contact Barbara.

Our annual Christmas Party will be on Thursday evening, Dec. 17 at Betty Cook’s home in Lake Wildwood. Anna Dillivou is in charge this year and will be asking members to help Betty set up and breakdown. We will talk more at our next meeting on Dec. 1.

It has been decided by the board, and agreed upon by Anna, Torie and Nicole that our Holiday Basket project with Holiday Market will be focused this year on Christmas only. More to come.

End Polio Day was a great success for our club as well as all Area 4 clubs. We collected $287.50 in donations that day. Added to the contents of the bucket that circulates at our regular meetings that totaled $176.54, means that we forwarded almost $500 to the Polio Plus fund at The Rotary Foundation. The Area 4 total was over $1,200. Great job!

We will be dark next Tuesday, Nov. 17 for the Foundation Dinner which will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Event Center in Grass Valley on Idaho Maryland Rd. If you have not paid for this yet, please pay at the event, as Phil will need to write a check for our club's attendance.

We will also be dark on Nov. 24 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Our next regular meeting will be Dec. 1. Our program that day will be Scott McFarland speaking on the Western Sierra Medical Clinic facility coming to Penn Valley.

See most of you at the Foundation Dinner and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
