Spring is in the air and the energy level is contagious at Penn Valley Rotary meetings!  We celebrated Barry Gray and Dick Landis’ birthdays Tuesday!  Happy Birthday to you two brave veterans!  Thank you for your service to our nation and to your continued service to our country and community.  You continue to make a difference!

Bob Long, Grass Valley President-Elect was on hand to invite us to join in the fun at their 2nd Annual Gold Country Bike Challenge (no biking required) on May 9th at the Fairgrounds and or invite our friends, children, grandchildren, (and here is where it gets dicey) or great-grandchildren to participate in their bike ride.

Thanks to Dan Halloran, who was celebrating Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team making it into the Final Four (I believe it is their 5th year for this honor!), for offering to judge the Area Speech Contest next Tuesday.  Thank you, Mark Fleming, for offering to be a timekeeper at the contest.

A BIG THANK YOU to Doug McDonald, Dave Walker, Pat Swope, and Dave Henderson who all helped Robin Milam with her technology needs for her presentation!  You are all so thoughtful, technologically gifted, and quick to offer your assistance.

Robin Milam, Nevada City Rotary Club President, graced us with her presence and enlightened us with her passionate presentation on Rights of Nature and their cause.  We all have recently experienced the community’s level of concern over the removal of numerous trees from an existing shopping center.

Eric Trygg’s nephew, Charles, was on hand to witness how Penn Valley embraces guests and, especially Eric.  Charles is studying at CSU Long Beach and plans on pursuing a law degree, possibly Environmental Law.  What an opportune meeting to attend, right?

Here is a list of upcoming TOTALLY FREE opportunities to “Make a Difference” in our community:
April 4, 8 am Western Gateway Park – Hide Easter Eggs for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt that begins at 9:30.
April 12, 7 am Park Buttermaker’s Cottage at Western Gateway – Daffodil Run
April 12, 2 pm Seventh Day Adventist Church, 12899 Osborne Hill Rd, Grass Valley - Area Music Contest

Don’t forget that our meeting has moved to the Grass Valley Methodist Church next Tuesday, April 7th at noon.  The cost is $16 and will be collected that day.
