There seems to be a lot of energy in the room before and during the meetings lately. This will only lead to good things happening with our projects and fundraisers!

Doug and Karen McDonald, Bob and Ann Barbaro, Dave Walker and Jan and I will be attending the Kazakhstan social evening on the 28th of September at the National Hotel in Nevada City sponsored by the Nevada City Rotary Club. Should be an interesting evening.

The Fall Festival was discussed at our board meeting, and enough support has caused us to move forward with it. We have received 15 vendor applications to date. Hopefully, as in years past, applications will come in at the last moment. I ask all members to please help with additional vendors. With the decision to drop the Draft Horse Classic, the Fall Festival becomes very important as a fundraiser.

The District Membership and Public Image seminar will be held in Incline Village on September 19th from 8:30 to 3:30 for anyone interested. There is no cost to the individual or the club for this event. Dave Walker and Mike Dobbins should consider this.

We are gearing up for the district governor’s visit on the 29th of September. I encourage all members to be in attendance at this meeting, and all board and committee members to make a great impression with their reports.

I presented myself with the Rotarian of the Month pin for August for my efforts coordinating the trip to the Rivercats baseball game involving all 5 clubs in our area. For the first time since putting this together, I realized a profit for our club of $265.00. I hope no one has taken offense to this. In reality, even though I happen to be your president, I am just another working member of our club. Do something special and you may become a recipient.

We inducted a very special new member this  week in Torie England, superintendent of Penn Valley Schools (shown with sponsor Luis Vazquez and Membership Chair Dave Walker). Looking forward to her involvement in our club.

Upcoming programs for the balance of September are Chris Geyer on September 15th. He is president of Club Rotario Los Barriles from Baja California Sur speaking on international project possibilities in Mexico. September 22nd will be our 2 RYLA students, Rachel Sarner and  Desmond Thole, and on September 29th our District Governor Gail “Virus” Elingwood.

See you Tuesday!
