This week’s newsletter from District Governor Joe Zarachoff reminded the presidents that we only have 100 more days in this Rotary year.  With that and the upcoming Share our Success Form due, I am so thankful for so many of you and all you have done to make a difference in our community and beyond.

Your efforts at the Draft Horse Classic and the DelightFall Festival have made it possible for us to assist monetarily with the Nevada City Rotary’s international project near Ensenada Mexico repairing the dormitories for a high school.

Bob Barbaro, Debbi Corbett, Bob Kline, Greg Marshall, Pat Swope, and Luis Vazquez have helped with shopping for the Holiday Baskets and Test Snack Projects.  Bob Barbaro, Bob Kline, Angela Haick, Debbi Corbett, Michael Green, Greg Marshall, Doug McDonald, Jeanne Puleo, and Christina Van Horn helped collect WOW points and/or helped package the baskets.   Mike Dobbins did a wonderful job promoting the project in The TWI.

Weekly, Pat Swope coordinates the speaker for our meetings and Doug McDonald puts the finishing touches on The Spoke and makes sure it gets out to everyone.  Thank you, both for your commitment.

Thanks to Bob Barbaro and Lori Jayne who just donated to The Rotary Foundation (International).  I encourage every one of you to make it a habit to donate to The Rotary Foundation (International) each year.  You may donate as little as $10.00 or any amount, but we have always recommended $100 a year for Sustaining Membership Status.  Did you ever think about donating by using your credit card and getting “miles” or “cash back” at the same time?  You could even set up an automatic monthly payment from your credit card and get those “miles” or “cash back” incentives and not have to remember to make that monthly donation.

Or what about donating stock and getting full market value of the stock without paying capital gains taxes.  Please consider making these donations by March 31 for our club to receive either the “Sustaining Members” (which means every Rotarian donated at least $100 this year) or the “Every Rotarian Every Year” (which means each of our members contributed at least a $10 to The Rotary Foundation (International) this year).   As another incentive – a percentage of the money we contribute to The Rotary Foundation (International) this year comes back to our District the year Doug McDonald is District Governor!!!

Jeanne Puleo graciously helped with the selection of our RYLA Delegates last Monday along with her son Andrew.  Andrew and Theo Twidwell (Nevada City 49er’s Rotary President’s son) have been fundraising to provide for a RYLA Delegate this year and I thought it was appropriate for them to be involved in the selection process.  The area Rotarians felt their presence added immensely to the selection process and would like to involve Interactors who have attended RYLA be in the interview process in future years.

Thanks to Pat Swope, we enjoyed Tom Drake sharing about Hospice of the Foothills.  Dave Walker added that we have the best facility in all Northern California.  When he was looking into help for Donna, the medical staff in the Sacramento area said what he was describing of Hospice of the Foothills was unimaginable, just a fairy tale, and couldn’t possibly exist.

Looking forward to seeing your bright smiling faces Tuesday!
