Tuesday we had a wonderful meeting and learned all about the new Lake Wildwood Clubhouse from General Manager,
Debbie Casey.
Sounds like our own
Greg Marshall has been a key player helping with the process. Thank you,
Greg! We were also graced with the presence of
Bethany Trevethick, Nevada County South Rotary President
Tyson’s spouse and LWW’s Administration and Communication Manager.
We had a lovely thank you note from Ready Springs’ students for our donation to their library.
They truly love the book and have a lottery to determine who gets to check it out weekly.
Dick Landis and Bob Kline graciously signed it before it was returned to students anxiously awaiting their turn.
This coming Tuesday we will be celebrating Rotary’s 110th birthday! Fun, games, prizes!!!! We will get to know our newest member, Darleen Won Golder, better as she shares a craft talk.
Almost two thirds of our Rotary year has passed and, while we have accomplished much for our community, I ask you where can “we make a difference” in this last quarter? On April 4 we have the opportunity to brighten the days of small children in our community at the annual Penn Valley Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt in Western Gateway Park. Powers that be tell me we hide eggs from 8 to 9 and the hunt begins at 9:30 ending at 9:30! That should be quite a riot to watch, not to mention gratifying to witness cute little smiling faces with their baskets of treats! (A grandbaby fix for those whose grandbabies are far away or not even here yet).
And, speaking of Easter, we have over 1,000 WOW points at Holiday Market and so why not go for more points to make the Easter meal a real treat for those not so fortunate families in our community? We just need a little promotion and I think we could garner the other 2,000 points to offer the same quality meal we gave our local schools’ students at Thanksgiving and Christmas. This might mean a few hours promoting it in front of Holiday, a small price to make a difference.
The Daffodil Run will be April 12th in Western Gateway Park and is really a neat opportunity to visit with fellow Rotarians, connect with friends that we don’t have the opportunity to visit with, all while helping produce the best “Run” ever! There are opportunities to
sponsor the event as well. Coffee and donuts/muffins are awaiting your arrival at about 7 am.
Rick Nolle is coordinating a “Scotch Broom Eradication Day” around April 24th. An area wide “Rotary at Work Day” is being coordinated for April 25 to aid Habitat for Humanity in clearing brush from the dense area between a Habitat project and the freeway.
Memorial Weekend we will host our 2
nd Annual Drew Reynolds Memorial Softball Tournament. There really is not a lot of work involved to this, and again, there is opportunity to be a
sponsor. Thanks
Mike Dobbins and Bob Barbaro, we were able to double our donation to the Little League Baseball team this year! Way to “Make a Difference” guys!
