I participated in the packing of the holiday baskets with Anna Dillavou, Barbara Ross, Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon, Debbi Corbett, Darleen Won-Golder, Bob Kline, Dave Walker and Greg Marshallearly Thursday morning. I could not believe what went into each of 30 family baskets, from turkeys, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, potatoes, green beans, dried onions, olives, pickles, yams, marshmallows, fruit cocktail, walnuts, dinner rolls, butter, apple pie and cool whip. I am sure I have overlooked something. At any rate, what a great effort. We have put smiles on many faces of needy families. Our club, with help from Holiday Markets point system and our cash donations put together just under $1,900.00 for purchase of these food items. Thank you all for your hard work and support. We should be proud.
The Christmas party was a great success as usual with wonderful food items brought by members. Everything was delicious. Anna Dillavou spearheaded the dinner this year with help from others in setting up and cleaning up after. Betty Cook is a very special person hosting this each year. Her home is a beautiful setting for this party. The gift exchange was a hoot as usual.
We presented Dave and Pam at Player’s each with $100 as a thank you for their great food and service to our club this year. They take good care of us.
Danielle Yantis, a registered dietician with the Western Sierra Medical Clinic gave us an educational program on diabetes. It amazes me to find that so many individuals are dealing with this disease.
Our next meeting will be January 5th, 2016 when Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon will do a craft talk. She is very involved in our community. We are very fortunate to have her in our membership. Don’t miss this.
