This being membership and club development month, if you have a potential member, see Dave Walker to work you through the process. Speaking of new members, Karen McDonald was inducted this week. Very excited about her addition to our Rotary family. She will prove to be a great asset to our membership.

Weekly programs have been recruited by myself and Eric Trygg, Eric not even being a member of our club. Thank you Eric for all your efforts. If any member has a possible program, we could use your help.

By our next meeting, the Rivercats experience will be behind us for this year. Good to have all area 4 clubs involved. I will report on Tuesday.

Barbara Ross gave a very positive report on the Destruction Derby , with the tribute to our fireman being the highlight. Barbara also reported on a great evening with Ravi at the Atlantis at Reno.

Debbi Corbett reported on the Fall Festival with vendor applications coming thru the mail. The event will take place on October 3rd at Western Gateway Park. A sign-up sheet will be circulated soon. Everyone please pitch in to make this a successful fundraiser.

Dave Walker was presented with a card from our club in memory of his wonderful wife Donna with the donation of a brick in her name at Hospice of the Foothills.

Thanks to our speaker, Chris Flores, new County Ag Commissioner. She has held this important position for 7 months, commuting from Eldorado County while her children are finishing school. She has many responsibilities  with a very small staff. How she does it is beyond me. It was a very informative talk.

Thank you Mike Heauser for becoming a bell ringer this week.

See you all Tuesday!

Dinner with Ravi
Last Friday, August 14, President-Elect Luis Vazquez, Pat Swope & Bob Purcell, Darleen Won-Golder and Bruce Golder, Dan & Toni Halloran, Barbara & Ted Ross joined Joanie Bumpus at the Atlantis for a very special Rotary evening.  There was so much energy in the room as we connected with so many Rotary friends throughout District 5190.

At one point before the dinner, we noticed Rotary International President “Ravi” surrounded by a group of RYE students.  It was hard to tell who was having more fun, the students or “Ravi.”  And then, “Ravi” was right behind us.  Barbara was trying to snap some shots when he offered to take a group photo.   SO APPROACHABLE!

We made our way into the dining room of 600 attendees and were amazed to find our table was #18!  Doug, District Governor Nominee, and Karen McDonald were at table #8.  Rotary International President “Ravi” Ravindran was introduced with little flair by choice.  Hailing from Sri Lanka, “Ravi” is CEO and founder of Printcare PLC, a publicly listed printing, packaging, and digital media solutions company and the world’s largest supplier of tea bag packaging.  He is very practical and has a wonderfully logical perspective of things.

All this and the meal was DELICIOUS!
