From Dave Walker
Kimberly Parker, Executive Director of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, gave us an insightful presentation on memory changes in maturing adults.  There is much to be aware of as we and our loved ones’ age.  Some are natural and to be expected and some may be signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s.  Kimberley’s presentation was in-depth, fast moving and informative.  It was no surprise that there were many questions and participation from the Club.  There will be a small test later in the year to test our retention of what we learned.

The Hospital Foundation has been and remains an amazing outreach of state of the art information for our Western Nevada County residents.  There have been many resent changes in technology in the medical industry.  Medical machinery that used to take up a special facility are now produced in very compact equipment.  Our memories are also challenged as the information age has made medical history, data and diagnostic analysis an ever expanding challenge.

Mark Fleming reported on our very successful RiverCats baseball  outing.  Be sure to mark your calendars and invite your family and friends to the "Bring a Friend" BBQ Fundraiser on October 1 at Western Gateway Park.  Mark will BBQ his famous chicken and we will each sign up to bring the side dishes.

Next week will be a Club Assembly to discuss the new and possible options that Rotary International has made available to our local clubs.  This should be a lively discussion, filled with creative ideas.  Bring your thoughts and open minds as we envision any changes or refinements we may wish to enact.  We need and are looking forward to your participation so please plan to attend.
