December Rotary Theme: Disease Prevention and Treatment Month!!!
And the Ugly Holiday Sweater contest winner is...Bruce Golder and his Pizza Tree sweater!!! It was nearly unanimous, and Bruce chose a 5 pound ham as his prize..Thanks to everyone who was fun!! 
  plus ... a fond and tearful Farewell crying to Dan Halloran..... We sent Dan and Toni Halloran off into the Arizona sunset with a huge "Bravo and Thanks"... Check out the letter in the Friday, December 18 Wildwood Independent!!...Thanks Mike Dobbins for including this in the publication....We'll make sure and stay in touch so that we can visit Dan and Toni when we're in the area...Safe travels!!
Next meeting: Happy NEW YEAR 2021!!!  January 5 at 5pm...Local Author Chris Enss will chat about her array of historical novels mostly about women. Enss has written more than 20 books on the subject of women in the Old West, and collaborated with producer Howard Kazanjian on four books, including two about Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.
On January 19, at our noon zoom meeting, we will hear from David West, Nevada County's Veteran's Services Officer.

Holiday Food Baskets....we couldn't do it without you...
Kudos to Joyce Feldman, Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon and Dr. Torie for organizing the Holiday Food Baskets...thanks to Greg Marshall, Gene Vander Plaats and Mark Bailey for volunteering for Turkey pick up...these baskets were distributed to 36 families from the Penn Valley Elementary School District on December 16...

also, a special thanks to Greg Marshall, the VanVacas Gagnon family, Ed McSweeney, Mike Kelly, Joyce Feldman and Lindy Beatie for staffing the WOW point collection table at Holiday Market to keep the points rolling in...remember, donate in increments of 1000 any time of year...this helps us pay for the Food Baskets ...
Some folks don't realize they have as many points as they do...this couple donated 8,000 points to our account!!  Woo Hoo!! 
Guess who received a Christmas surprise? Our own Lindy Beatie was the winner of a Quilt, handmade by Jan Recanzone, that was part of the Rotary Club of Yerington Polio Plus never know where gifts may show up...Thanks again to Yerington Rotary Club for this awesome opportunity...
Mark your calendars!! Christmas tree recycling...Lake Wildwood Christmas Tree recycling will take place on January 9, details to follow next week...Special thanks to the following for working on this project: Mark Bailey, Mark Fleming, Gordon and Ryan Beatie, Gene Vander Plaats, Jim Sears (local yard  maintenance provider) and the students of Nevada Union Interact and the Weeblos of Cub Pack 275.  We still need a few more volunteers to help, so connect with Greg Marshal if you'd like to help...Thanks,  Greg, for organizing this fun

Watch for a "Clean the Garden" dates....Moving forward on our Ready Springs Garden project, the tool shed should be in place soon...Mark Fleming noticed that the garden could use some clean up, so expect a notice of a work day (or two) in between the raindrops over the next few weeks...See the latest updates of our garden project:
Compost area is cleaned up, thanks to Greg Marshall and Gordon B...10 planter boxes are ready to be planted after the first of the year outside classrooms at Ready Springs, thanks to Gordon B, Greg Marshall and Mark Fleming...
