Tuesday's Noon Zoom meeting.... As we move into Fall, along side COVID-19, comes fire season...Bob Long, Chair of the Nevada County Coalition of FireWise Communities will be our guest speaker on Tuesday, Aug 18 noon Zoom meeting. The Coalition of Firewise Communities is composed of representatives from each Firewise Community . Bob will explain what a firewise community is and how to become one. Debbi is moving to her dream condo in Monterey, CA, closer to her boys...she was instrumental in working with the school families' Holiday Baskets program and developed the first Disc and Dine along with her son who owns a Disc Golf company...Also, we are sad to hear that our very own Distinguished Citizen, Hank Weston is leaving Rotary. Because of Hank, our Rotary Club raised funds to help bring "Breaking Down the Walls" to Ready Springs School...the Board approved his nomination as an honorary Rotarian so maybe we'll see Hank when we go back to in person meetings...A warm "welcome" to Mike Kelley who is moving to Lake Wildwood from the San Jose area and will be transferring his membership to our Club in the near future...If you know of anyone who would like to work on projects in our community, invite them to one of our meetings....because Rotarians are People of Action!!!" Other activities: Work is continuing on ...Ready Springs School garden - pricing for planter boxes, toolshed and compost area...we will be submitting a matching grant request for District 5190 funds...these are funds from the Rotary International Foundation. Golf at Lake Wildwood, each golfer raises fund from their family and friends...funds go to supporting our youth services programs (RS Interact, RYLA, REGL, RYE) and programs at our schools, like "Breaking Down the Walls" and the Sierra Harvest garden at Ready Springs... BOOKS BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS Club member Greg Marshall and club partner Gordon Beatie installed a Little Library at Ready Springs school on Friday...take a book, leave a book... Thanks to you both!!
