Tuesday’s meeting highlights and dates to remember:
  • Rotarian John Hensley was an interesting speaker. When younger he was a child actor, having parts in Lassie, commercials and movies such as The Step Mother. He talked about his positive memories working with Lucy Ball and Walt Disney among others.

  • Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon informed us that the Science Night for our local school would take place on March 29. Volunteers will be needed to facilitate the science activities with the students and parents. Last year was lots of fun; don’t miss this opportunity to support our local students’ learning. A volunteer sheet will be passed throughout the club in the upcoming weeks.
  • Barbara Ross is starting to work on the Drew Reynolds’ Softball Tournament, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. Club members are needed to help prepare for the event. This event not only supports a scholarship but also, is a funding source for the club. Please be an engaged member and support this event with your time, talent and treasure.
  • The Joanie Bumpus Daffodil Run will be Sunday, April 9th, at Western Gateway Park.  This is always a fun event and takes us all to make it come together!  Watch for sign-ups.
  • The Area Music Contest will take place in April; place and time are to be determined.
  • Our Club Speech Contest will be taking place next month; judges and tellers are needed. Be watching for the request for help.
  • District 5190 Conference will be the weekend of May 19-21, Atlantis Hotel, Reno. It will be an exciting weekend with the Rotary International President speaking, awards being handed out, and thanking John Sullivan for his service as District Governor. We will celebrate our President Elect Mike Dobbins and District Governor Elect Doug McDonald.
  • Our first social will be Tuesday, February 21, 5:30pm, at Players Sports Bar. We need to give Dave of Players a number of members who are going to attend. So, check those calendars, check with your spouse or a friend, and give me your reservation. We will enjoy fellowship, a bite to eat and a drink. Be there!
*There will be NO lunch meeting, February 21.

The Club Board meeting is Tuesday, 11am at Players, all are welcome. If any committee chairs or board members are unable to attend, please contact Karen or Dave.

Next week's speaker from KARE Crisis Nursery will share about their program as well as their upcoming fundraiser.
