Sept 16...John Paul from the 49er Breakfast Club, will share his journey into Improv as a retirement exploration in a talk called "Reimagine Retirement"..
John Paul was a graphic designer for decades then, along with his husband Chip Carman, started Spiral Internet in 2006. In December 2023, he turned 70 and realized he needed to decide how he was going to spend the last decades of his life. He started improv theatre classes, and hired a life coach to guide him. When his coach suggested that he’d be a good coach, he balked, but then asked his friends and colleagues what they thought. It was a resounding, “Yes. Perfect for you.” Today he is coaching people moving from working to retirement – a time that can be both fearful and exciting. He is also a founding member of Laughter Shock Improv, a newly troupe formed in Nevada County. John is a Past President of the 49er Breakfast Rotary Club of Nevada City and has been a member of that club since 1997.
October 7..Kara from the Curious Forge will be talking about what's up at the art center Curious Forge,  where folks can sew,  make glass,  weld and all  sorts of exciting things...come  and learn about this wonderful gem of our county...

Info on Polio activities round the world...

Happy to report that this week there were no confirmed cases of paralysis caused by Wild Poliovirus Type 1 in any of the endemic countries (Afghanistan or Pakistan) or anywhere else in the world! And no positive environmental samples either!
There were 8 children paralyzed by the variant polioviruses (3 in Chad, 4 in Nigeria, and 1 in Somalia) and 5 positive environmental samples from 3 countries in Africa.
Plans are nearly finalized for a big World Polio Day Event in Albuquerque on Friday, October 24th at the Big West Zone Institute.  Please remember to register your local WPD events on the www.endpolio.org website!!
