Dear Rotarians:

For those that did not attend last week's meeting, the District Conference in Reno the weekend prior was very good to Penn Valley Rotary! We received first place for our medium-size clubs for Membership Service, Vocational Service, Club of Excellence and Polio Plus per Capita. We received runner-up in POY (project of year) vocational, POY youth, POY administration and attendance. We received a special award for Area 4 collaboration for destruction derby, Rivercats outing, dental van refurbishing support and area social events. I am very proud of our club! I anticipated none of this.

We honored two teachers with framed certificates and flowers for their dedicated efforts with our school children. Trinity Keeble of Ready Springs School and Kim Bell of Pleasant Valley School were with us to be honored. We will honor Susan Lima of Williams Ranch School next week (she couldn't be with us because of a field trip with her class that was previously scheduled). Ready Springs Principal Thomas Bivens and Pleasant Valley School Principal Teena Corker both were with us to help honor the teachers from their respective schools.

Pete Nowlen and Mieko Hatano  from Music in the Mountains presented a great video of their upcoming concerts, 9 of which will be a Western Gateway Park. Should be a fun season of good music and food. Let’s give them our support and attend some of these.

Our program for this week will be Jerrianne Van Dijk speaking on Art off the Wall. Eric Trygg says this should be a good one.

We will be dark on June 7th so we can work the voting precinct and all get out and vote.

Barbara Ross is planning my demotion for 6:30 PM on Monday evening, June 27th at Western Gateway Park. Next year's Board and Committee Chairs will meet at our regular time on Tuesday, June 28th at Players, but the rest of the Club will be Dark.

Remember that the June 14th meeting is a must make where Doug McDonald will be talking about the recent changes approved by Rotary International and share with all of some club information. This will also serve as a new membership orientation.

See you Tuesday.
