MEETING TIMES....1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, noon, Players Restaurant and Sports Bar, Penn Valley... August 19 meeting... Lola and the short Term Exchange student...Short Term Exchange or STE is a relatively new program here in District 5190. It's a Family to Family exchange for a short period, usually a few weeks, during the summer...We'll hear about the exchange when Lola (our student) comes to visit with her STE student from Germany...Plus we'll be inducting new members... Sept 2...Linda Lee, prospective new member, discusses her new book REFLECTIONS recounting her travels abroad through poetry...such a great inspiration... Next Hospitality House cooking - August 27 Penn Valley Rotary club social A good time was had by all at the Rotary wine & appetizer social on Friday. Carrie L’esperance, a friend and neighbor to Darleen and Bruce Golder, graciously opened her unique Permaculture home to us. The home sits on 20 rustic acres, which includes the Yellowood Nature Reserve in Penn Valley. Permaculture follows the principles of sustainability, ecological design, and harmony with nature. Get ready for Pups for Polio...Make sure you are working on your task so we can get this off to a raging start...the Western Gateway Dog Park folks have secured food vendors and other service dog groups to participate...let's make sure this produces lots of donations to Polio Plus ***************************************************************************** Possible community Project.. We had a recent meeting with folks from the Chamber, Lions, Rotary and previous volunteers from the food bank distribution...Brett Bentley, the new ED from the Nevada County Food Bank, gave us a overview of the need to make sure this distribution in Penn Valley continues. We'll have another meeting in a few weeks to get organized to start up in October again... We have been asked to pick up snack foods from the Nevada County Food Bank for Ready Springs and Williams Ranch schools each Friday...if you would like to help with this, contact Lindy during a meeting...
