This week's meeting...Tuesday, Aug 25 - postponed from last week's Noon Zoom meeting.... Well, we all know what fire season looks like, we had a good taste of it this last week..we send prayers out to all who may have been affected or who's families may have been, throughout Northern California...be safe and be healthy...So we'll try again with our buddy, Bob Long, Chair of the Nevada County Coalition of FireWise Communities as our guest speaker on Tuesday, Aug 25, noon Zoom meeting. The Coalition of Firewise Communities is composed of representatives from each Firewise Community . Bob will explain what a firewise community is and how to become one. Make sure and connect via the Zoom link from Joyce Feldman's email. I evacuated from Eskaton to my son's in Wildwood for a few nights just to make sure all was safe...I know prayers go out to Amy and Chamba Cook (former owners of SummerThyme) who's home burnt down out by the Woolman school on the ridge...it's so very sad  . On a lighter note, plans for our garden at Ready Springs are moving along...The grant to the district will be completed and we should receive word soon on our award. Mark Bailey and Gordon will begin constructing planter boxes and reconstructing the compost pile. They will need lots of extra hands so please send a note to either Mark Bailey mbailey836@aol.com or Lindy for Gordon at lindybeatie@gmail.com...we plan on making at least 8 planter boxes and have to "resurrect" three compost areas - see photo below for examples of each...Remember to submit your dues payment...you all should have received an email from Linda Swartz this week...if you did not receive an email from her, please let our Treasurer Ed McSweeney know...ed@mcsweeneyandassociates.com...dues can be paid in 2 installments and birthday/anniversary fines are due the month of the event...That's it for now...Stay safe, healthy and PURPLE!!

Our many congratulations for the two awards DG Roberta presented at the Zoom meeting in July...Debbi Corbett for the Heart of Rotary (Debbi is moving to Monterey but has been our Rock when it came to the Holiday Basket and WOW point program, she also organized the first Disc & Dine, and has helped with every project known to PV Rotary!!) and Gene Vander Plaats for the Quiet Rotarian (Gene steps in when we need help and is a fantastic Dog Walker...started our club's "Golf for Kids" tourney with the Kiwanis last year)...very very well deserved for both!!!
