Hope you're all doing well and staying safe. There have been some close calls, firewise, with the River Fire, and the Bennett Fire - we know Ed McSweeney and staff were evacuated but everything was fine...We are so lucky to live in such a caring community with supporters who look after each other when times are tough...Our PV Rotary club and our PV Rotary club foundation donated $1000 ($500 each) to the Nevada County Relief fund for River Fire victims.. We can never do too much for those in need...  ***The Area social last week at Condon Park was a blast!...literally...Brass from the Auburn Winds Big Band Orchestra entertained us and Kris Stepanian stepped in to serenade us with tunes most of us remember well (are we really that old??!!)...about 35 folks showed up in the "not too smokey" conditions, from our club: President Joyce, Kathy Williamson, Lindy Beatie and "long time, no see" Mike and Chrissy Kelly...Special thanks to Kathleen Shaffer, GV Rotary president, for arranging such a fun event...  UPDATE ON CLUB ACTIVITIES: Our club's Golf for Kids event will be held on October 3 at Lake Wildwood...it's an opportunity for fellowship and fundraising! Golfers get pledges from their friends and co workers...Gene Vander Plaats ( genovp@msn.com ) and Michael Fairbrother are spearheading this event.....you don't have to be a member of the club to play - if you have a friend that would like to play golf and help us raise funds, invite them along!! .. sign up with Gene to get your pledge form - goal is at least $100 per golfer !! This is one of our fundraisers to raise funds for our youth leadership program sponsorships, Boy Scout troop sponsorship, Little League and other projects throughout the year to help our community. If you don't play golf, make sure and make a pledge to a golfer ... DISTRICT TRAINING...September 18 via zoom...Vibrant Club workshop... This workshop will explore the 4 areas for healthy clubs...DO NOT CLICK ON THE REGISTER ICON IN THE FLYER...INSTEAD - register at http://www.district5190.org click on calendar, find Sept 18 and you're there - no cost, it's free!! ...Hope to see you on the small screen...
