Recap of last meeting...September 15 we had Nevada County Consolidated Fire Marshall, Terry McMahon, discussed the Jones Fire and other issues as we enter fire season..He did a great job explaining how the fire burned, evacuation routes, and duties of our fire fighters in extinguishing the fire...he also spoke about the other fires our county's fire fighters are called to help on... Next Meeting: September 29!! Social will be held at Java Dream Gelato and Coffee house, at 5pm....11434 Pleasant Valley Rd, Penn Valley, CA 95946...come and celebrate one of our local businesses...remember, dessert first!!!!   PREZ PAMELA'S PROSE...Our District matching grant for the garden at Ready Springs has been approved!!! ...we have $2000 to work on the following Projects: 10 planter boxes, filled with soil and flowers, refurbish the composting area, purchase a new Tool shed and stock with new tools, clean up the perimeter of the garden, and prep for fall/winter...Mark Bailey will be connecting with those who offered to purchase tools as soon as we purchase the tool shed, and Gordon B will be connecting with those of you who would like to help construct one of the planter boxes...Gordon will put together a planter box kit, please connect with Lindy at lindybeatie@gmail.com if you are interested...after the boxes are built, we'll need members to put in soil and help plant the flowers for each classroom... Please volunteer!!! Paula Collins and Prez Pamela are starting a "Read to the Class" program with Williams Ranch school, via zoom.. Anyone who wants to help read once a week to students for approximately 1/2 hour via zoom, connect with Paula Collins at 273-7461...Should be FUN !!! (remember our 5th Rotary Rule!!)... Remember to make your contribution to the Rotary International Foundation, for whatever amount...we are not billing for it this year, so please make a contribution in any amount...we receive funds back after three years to help with District Grants - and our club benefits from the matching grants... we have funded parts of the Bike Park, anti bullying programs, and now garden funds....https://www.rotary.org/en/about-rotary/rotary-foundation Golf for Kids, October 4, Lake Wildwood Golf Course ...our golf teams will be raising money for our Ready Springs Garden project, books for the school libraries, Ready Springs Interact club murals and helping students in any way we can...donate if you can to one of the golfers...connect with Dan Halloran (danhalloran39@gmail.com) or Gene Vander Plaats (genovp@msn.com) to sign up...
