Dear Rotarians:

This week's meeting is the annual Area Speech Contest, which our Club is hosting and Youth Chair Jeanne Puleo is chairing. It's being held at the United Methodist Church at 236 Church St. in Grass Valley. Be there at 12 Noon. Lunch will be $16.  Come join Rotarians from all 5 local Clubs and support the winning speakers from our local schools who took first place at the club level. The winner goes on to the District competition at the District Conference in Reno in May.

Our Rotarians at Work Day at Western Gateway Park last Saturday to prepare for the installation of the bike park was a great success. The membership turnout was impressive. Spouses and children shared in the effort. We were able to clear a large area and only a few of us ended up with poison oak. Thanks for the hard work!

The Club Leadership Assembly is getting close -- Saturday, April 9th at the Atlantis in Reno. This is a training event hosted by the District which offers lots of Rotary information needed for a successful year. Over 150 Rotarians from the 59 Clubs in the District will be there. Officers and committee chairs for 2016-17 are especially encouraged to attend. Includes continental breakfast and lunch. No cost to members. Register on the District website at www.rotarydistrict5190.org.

The district is looking for volunteers to serve as Sergeants-at-Arms at the District Conference in Reno, May 12- 15. Please consider. See me for more info.

The Club has decided to discontinue the Fall Festival. With the chance to split the County Fair food booth proceeds with Nevada City Rotary and Nicole Van Vacas Gagnon and Mike Dobbins ideas of developing a calendar it will take up our fundraising slack.

Sheila Grizzell gave a great craft talk last week, emphasizing her love of family and how much she enjoys living in this area. As manager of Tri-Counties Bank and owner of Crazy 4 Yogurt plus her involvement in Rotary, she stays very busy. She is fun to have in our club. Thanks, Sheila, for a good job!

The community organization sign is finished!Good work, Bob Kline and the many others who made this happen!

See you Tuesday at the Speech Contest!
