President’s Message

Hi Everyone,

Boy, this Rotary year is just flying along.  I hope you are having as much fun as I am as your 2018/2019 Rotary President.  Thanks to a lot of help from all of you, this has been a good year so far.

We had a good number of our members sign up for the Rotary Foundation Dinner last week.  That Dinner is on Thursday, October 25, at 6:00 PM Gold Miner’s Inn, Grass Valley.  We will be dark for the normal 23 October luncheon.

Thank you Dr. Bruce Golder for sharing your history and experiences with us last week. It is always a pleasure to get to know our fellow Rotarians much better.

We look forward to hearing from Dr. Bruce Turner on Tuesday about the Smiles without Borders initiative.  Many of us have donated to this cause and we hope to learn more about the life changing work Smiles Without Borders is doing in Mexico.

See you Tuesday, 9 October 2018.

Here’s a membership thought:
Gaining knowledge of Rotary functions and activities is easy. Leadership and training is available at the District level. Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) sessions will be held in our area in the next few months. This training is fantastic for the newest and the most tenured Rotarian, gaining insight on Rotary's mission and methods with other local Rotarians. Be watching for the invitation here in the SPOKE. Rotary has Fellowships in which like-minded folks gather and talk about their profession or favorite hobby interest. These happen on-line as well at the International Rotary Convention which takes place in Hamburg, Germany June 2019.

Upcoming Social Event
Assistant Governor (AG) Anita Daniels has invited Rotarians to enjoy an evening of fellowship and music. Friday, November 9th starts with a Taco Bar at Reiki Kitchen, Nevada City, then walk two doors up to Off BroadStreet Theatre for a night blues and rock and roll with the of awesome guitar of Dominic Stepanian and the lovely vocals of Kris Stepanian. The cost of the theater is $28 and the fee for the Taco Bar is yet to be determined. Anita Daniels will be taking reservations, email her at dondaniels@sbcglobal.net
Save the date for this wonderful Area 4 Rotary event.
