MEETINGS.... Notes from last meeting... JULIA STIDHAM, Associate Publisher of The Union newspaper...Julia did a great job giving us a run down of the new owners of The Union, still owned by a family although located back east...she gave us background on herself, and about the various functions and productions of the newspaper ... She mostly deals with the advertising while the publisher, Don Rogers is the "General Manager" over all departments. A local from Penn Valley, Julia raised her son her, who now attends Sierra College...thanks for giving us the "inside scoop", Julia... Tuesday, March 1...Teresa Dietrich will return to give us an update of the housing projects in our county... Tuesday, March 15...Ashley Quadros, from Hospitality House will discuss her organizations approach to working with the homeless... Tuesday, April 5...Sue Hoek, our county Supervisor, will provide an update and discuss the goals the board has established for the coming year. Tuesday, April 19...Nevada County Free Health Clinic with Mindy Oberne and Phil Vadara Tuesday, May 3...Introducing the "Thrive Store" on the Ready Springs campus...Principal Chrissy McKweon will introduce this project to our club and how we can help in keeping the store stocked... From Pres Joyce: Big Happy Anniversary to Mike and Christi Kelley...today, Friday, Feb 18...and additional Happy Birthdays for everyone celebrating in February... Special thanks to Pamela Yazell, Nicole Wagner, Christi Savoy-Kelley, Gordon Beatie, Lindy Beatie, Melissa Conley, Kathy Williamson for delivering Valentine's flowers to all our teachers at Williams Ranch and Ready Springs...it's a huge Thank you for the work they have done over these very exhausting two years... Science Night at Williams Ranch School was a blast!!! From slime making to rocket launchers, the students at Williams Ranch enjoyed the help of our Rotarians, PV Lions and members of the PV Chamber in making and trying experiments based on mechanics and science...pizza was provided by Players Pizza!! PV Rotarians involved: Michael Green, Mark Bailey, Gordon Beatie, Lindy Beatie, Pamela Yazell, Christi Savoy-Kelley...thanks all!! District conference is a celebration of the year...it will be held at Harrah's in South Lake Tahoe, April 29-May 1....you can see the line up of speakers, breakout sessions and activities (lake tahoe dinner cruise on Friday night, Walk for Polio on Saturday morning) at www.district5190.org...it should be a blast!!
