Notes from the President Rotary’s focus for August is “Membership and New Club Development.” First and foremost, I want to say “Thank you” and express my gratitude for your continued active membership in the Rotary Club of Penn Valley. It’s truly an honor to work alongside each and every one of you! Our District 5190 Governor, Larry Harvey, was our honored guest at our August 5th meeting, along with Marcia Salter, our Area Governor. Larry provided insights to the club about how to increase membership as well as expanding membership through satellite clubs and inviting "Friends of Rotary” volunteers to help with events and projects. He also inducted Bridget Grant as a new member. Two of our members were honored .. Darleen Won-Golder with the Quiet Rotarian award and Bruce Golder for the Dream Maker award honoring his work with our club's scholarships I want to recognize and give thanks to our members who provide selfless service to Penn Valley and the surrounding communities this past month by way with “Wow” points collection at Holiday Market, participating in the “Hope for Nevada County” food drive and school supplies giveaway at Nevada Union HS, and for helping out at the United Methodist Church’s bratwurst booth at the Nevada County fair, as well as all the work that is done behind the scenes for the club and on behalf of Rotary!
