March Rotary Theme: Water and Sanitation Month PRAYERS AND PRAISES... ***We have just been alerted that Joannie Bumpus is in the hospital...not sure what the issue is but we will keep you posted...prayers and good thoughts... ***Thank you to Mark Fleming for helping to guide our work on the Ready Springs Garden... NEXT MEEETING....MARCH 23, noon, Joyce Feldman, President Elect for 2021-2022...fresh off of PETS, Joyce will be sharing her background in Rotary, her vocation and her vision for the club during the next year...let's all give her a warm welcome.. Also, we will have a report from new member Mike Kelley on a really fun wine tasting event he's working on...come and learn about the fun and fellowship in store ... Zoom link will be sent out no later than Tuesday AM... . FUTURE MEETINGS..... *April 20, noon, Dr. Louise Johnson shares tales of her trip to the Galapagos Islands as a part of her OLLI class on travel....so what is OLLI??? *May 18, noon, Dr. Brett McFadden and staff discussing the Career Technical and Ag programs at the High Schools Projects left for the garden: Distribute soil to garden beds, place the irrigation system, distribute wood chips in between garden beds, place the flower planter boxes throughout the campus, fill with dirt, and distribute plants...the dirt and chip distribution can be done in one day if we have lots of hands to help....Our next work day will be this coming Saturday, March 27 starting at 9 am...please consider helping...there will be a follow up email on Wednesday to confirm...we are "this close..." to being finished and to watch the students at Ready Springs elementary school become gardeners... ***THE 20TH JOANNIE BUMPUS DAFFODIL RUN: Sign up NOW!!! 20th annual Joanie Bumpus Daffodil Run....the run will take place between April 1-11 ... ...$25 registration, 16 years and older, $15 for 15 and younger... registration and more information on the website at www.daffodilrunpv.com ... if you want to walk, sign up for the 5K run and just walk the course...funds from the run support our work with schools and scholarships...we'll need helpers to stuff swag bags and get them ready to mail to participants after the run/walk...stay tuned for sign up ... ****Registration now open for the 2021 virtual District conference... https://web.cvent.com/event/ed51199c-730f-4b4b-9a58-b1587bdf172e/summary *** We're still looking for speech contestants ... high school students ...deadline extended to March 24..Area awards: $500 for 1st; $250 for 2nd; $125 for 3rd....information on the pennvalleyrotary.org website... NOW IS A GREAT TIME TO INVITE A FRIEND TO JOIN OUR ROTARY CLUB...Dues for the second half of the year are only $75 for January 2021- June 2021....Invite them to a zoom meeting (it only takes attending two meetings to begin the membership process)...we've got some great projects going and welcome new ideas and fresh faces...
