Rotary Clubs help our community's vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic through district grants:Gold Country Community Services, the program that administers Meals on Wheels for our county, received some assistance to increase purchases of food and other supplies through a District Service Grant partnership. The Rotary Clubs of Grass Valley South and Penn Valley raised $2000 ($1500 Grass Valley South and $500 Penn Valley) for a matching district grant from funding of the Rotary Foundation. Thanks to all the work that our club members do to help raise these funds..Service Above Self...for People of Action...
Roots & Wings re-vamps Wine Cruise for this year...
Roots & Wings will not hold their Wine Cruise this year, but rather held a Wine Night on August 1, 2020...ticket information will be available by June 1.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening) interviews...
If you would like to help with the interviews of the High School juniors who have applied to be RYLA candidates, please let President Lindy know...interviews will be held via Zoom the last week of April. More information about the exact weeks for RYLA are still in negotiations but we are proceeding as if the camps will continue.

Rotary is uniquely positioned to help out in the COVID-19 pandemic .... A program begun by Rotary is employing thousands of health workers to address the Covid-19 pandemic. The program is the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) which includes Rotary’s PolioPlus program. Globally, the polio surveillance network is being trained on Covid case detection, contact tracing, laboratory testing and data management. GPEI is deploying its coordination mechanisms such as emergency operations centers and sharing physical assets like vehicles, computers and mobile phones to combat the pandemic.
