MEETING TIMES....1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, noon, Players Restaurant and Sports Bar, Penn Valley... August 5 meeting ... a visit from our District Governor, Larry Harvey...we will also be inducting a new member... August 19 meeting... Lola and the short Term Exchange student...Short Term Exchange or STE is a relatively new program here in District 5190. It's a Family to Family exchange for a short period, usually a few weeks, during the summer...We'll hear about the exchange when Lola (our student) comes to visit with her STE student from Germany... ***************************************************************** Mark your calendars.... Next Hospitality House cooking - August 27 WOW point collections at Holiday Market/Penn Valley Gift cards that our club receives from the donation of WOW points when folks shop at Holiday Markets, go towards purchasing food for the Thrive Store at Ready Springs school and to the Holiday Baskets we provide for families in our community during the Holiday season... Joyce Feldman has scheduled August 9 for 4 hours for WOW point collection tabling...hours flexible if the day is hotter...info on how the program works are available and it's a great way to connect with the community about our Rotary club...please connect with Joyce Feldman - joyce@twinvalleyins.com to sign up or at the next Rotary meeting... At the last meeting, Prez Lori asked each member to sign up for a task at the October event...please connect with Lori or come to the next meeting to get info on this club wide event...it's a all hands on deck to help raise funds for Polio Plus and the Western Gateway Dog Park... ***************************************************************************** Unite for Good.. Last weekend, Darleen and Lori volunteered alongside 200 other volunteers from nonprofits and churches for "Hope for Nevada County" to pack bags of groceries. Distribution of backpacks, school supplies, shoes, socks and free haircuts were held on Saturday at Nevada Union High school.
